The base is a deep warm brown that has a crackle leather-like overlay finish.
The screen has been divided into a lower and upper
half
with with two double gold accent painted lines. On the
lower half an exotic elephant and palm trees motif is hand painted
in such a way as to mirror the elephant painted on the next panel over. The top half of the screen has three
more hand painted motifs
on each panel. The outer motifs being that of palm trees and the inner art work is that of the elephants.
The inner elephants are
again painted to mirror themselves like the bottom motifs.
The whole outer edge is given a gold accent double edge molding that
matches the double gold painted lines
dividing the top and bottom half and the lines around the artwork. This portable screen
is a Far East treasure.
